Yoga for Bigger Bodies

A Special 3-Week Series with Lisa

Think YOU can’t do yoga…?   T H I N K   A G A I N  !!

images (1) If you’re just starting out on your yoga journey, we know you might feel intimidated, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable coming to a typical or traditional yoga class.  As such, we’ve designed a special yoga class for plus-size women who want to improve their health and well-being.

In these classes, students are encouraged to move at their own pace while learning modified yoga postures to accommodate larger bodies.  The practice also includes conscious breathing, and relaxation and meditation techniques, which can be utilized both on and off the mat.

Lisa will meet you exactly where you are. She’ll guide you through each practice with thoughtful instruction, helping you to connect with your body in a loving, non-judgmental way.  All of the poses, modifications, and directions will be geared toward a plus-size body type, and we’ll use props (including chairs, if needed) to make each pose feel accessible and comfortable, while working with the body that you have today.

Specifically tailored for bigger bodies, these classes are ideal for those who feel out-of-shape, yet want to begin yoga (or to continue practicing yoga) in a setting where everyone is similar in size and shape.  This class is not a sedentary class, nor does it focus on losing weight (or on how you should look).  Rather, it’s designed for those who are looking to become stronger, more flexible, more active and comfortable, while enjoying the body they’re in.

While there is no weight requirement, please be aware that these classes are meant for those who are plus-size (or close to it).  Participants will experience the benefits of yoga in a relaxed, supportive environment that is nurturing, safe, and welcoming to all body types.

Regardless of your size, shape, age, or ability – everyone can benefit from the practice of yoga… and we look forward to showing you how!

Minimum of 6 participants required.

A Note on Physical Limitations:   We look forward to helping you develop a personal yoga practice. Please note, our Plus-Size classes are not necessarily appropriate for individuals with major limitations such as recent knee or wrist surgeries, severe arthritis, etc. If you’re unsure of your ability to participate in this class, please feel free to call Lori for a consultation. (Contact information is below.)  As with any physical activity, please have your doctor’s permission to exercise before joining.

Benefits of an on-going yoga practice include:

  • Strength and flexibility (both in mind and body), greater mobility, and range-of-motion
  • Less aches and pains and improved blood-flow
  • Better sense of balance
  • Reduced stress and stress-related problems – which can ultimately leads to healthier habits/choices
  • Combats diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, angina, fibromyalgia, and more
  • Improved physical health and sense of well-being
  • Body appreciation and improved self-esteem
  • Ability to relax deeply = improved sleep!
  • Increased effectiveness in dealing with mental and emotional challenges such as depression and anxiety
  • And much, much more 🙂

If you’re a bit nervous or maybe just need a little reassurance, we would be happy to meet with you ahead of time to discuss your questions or concerns. Please email

    Hi Susan

Thanks for your message and for registering for our upcoming course. We’re looking forward to working with you soon!

If you know of others that might be interested and enjoy the course too, we hope you’ll share the details with them.  It’s still a ways out, so we shouldn’t have any problem meeting the minimum of 6 participants 🙂

Please let us know if you have any follow up questions.

    Have a great day

I’m so excited for this! I have always wanted to do yoga but pretty self conscious due to a heavier body. Will these classes continue after this course or is this a one time thing?

    Hi there!

We’re so glad to hear you’re excited! We are too 🙂

To let you know, our intention in offering this series is to generate enough interest so that we can continue it as an on-going class. We would love your help with that. If you know of others that might be interested in participating, we hope that you’ll share the information with them and direct them our way!

We hope you’ll sign-up in advance and so that we can look forward to working with you 🙂
