INTRO TO YOGA (Yoga 101) Apr 3/10

March 6, 2016

If you’ve never done yoga, this is the best place to start!

Intro to Yoga – Yoga 101

 Wednesdays – April 3 & 10

6:00 to 7:30 pm

Have you been curious about yoga but reluctant to give it a try….?  Our special two-week Intro To Yoga series is designed to safely and comfortably introduce new students to the physical practice of yoga… but it’s also great for those who’d like to review the basics.

In a relaxed, supportive environment, you’ll learn basic yoga postures through an easy-does-it, step-by-step approach which focuses on proper form and alignment. These special yoga poses (asanas) help to stretch, strengthen, and release tension in your body while developing concentration and awareness.

Detailed instructions (including modifications for all needs/abilities), demonstrations, and personal hands-on adjustments are provided. We’ll go slowly so you can ask questions which will help you develop good habits from the start.  (You’ll never be pushed beyond your ability or to do anything that doesn’t feel right to you – and the option of resting is always available.)

Breathing and meditation techniques are also taught to help reduce stress by quieting and focusing the mind (can be used on or off the mat). The session will end with guided relaxation as your body quietly absorbs the benefits of the practice.

intro to yogaBy the end of the series you’ll be prepared to transition into our on-going beginning level classes. To support you in this process, once you complete the workshop, you’ll receive ONE WEEK of UNLIMITED CLASSES too!

—————- TIPS FOR CLASS —————-

If you’re new to yoga …

If you have a yoga mat, bring it along. If you don’t own a mat, you can borrow one of ours.

Wear something that allows you to bend and move easily. Most exercise clothing will work… shorts, sweat pants, form-fitting tees, tank tops, as well as clothing specifically marketed as “yoga” clothing. We practice with bare feet.

For your comfort, try not to eat a heavy meal 1-2 hours before class.

A hand towel and a bottle of water are nice to have, but optional.

We have a changing room for your convenience and ample parking.

NO CELL PHONES ARE ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO (including in the lobby). Please turn phones all the way off when you step inside (or leave it in the car).
