Since there’s no end to yoga, no completed posture, no destination or place to arrive at, wherever you’re at today, ENJOY IT!

What is your intention for your yoga practice today…?    Do you seek the work-out aspect of the practice, or a deeper understanding of the poses, the practice, the path within…?   When selecting a class, consider your energy level as well as how you’re feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally.

If you’re new to the practice of yoga, start with a FOCUS class in order to learn basic, foundational postures and how to be mindful as you practice.  (An alternative would be  our “Intro to Yoga” workshop in order to learn yoga from the ground-up … or if you have an injury or illness, you might consider starting with an “Easy Stretch” class instead.)  After you’ve taken several FOCUS classes, you might try a FLOW class; however, they are faster-paced and there is greater risk of injury if you don’t have a working knowledege of alignment principles.   It’s also important that you never override the body’s wisdom for the glory of a pose.  Be sure to choose your path wisely by considering how you’re showing-up on any given day.   You’ve got the rest of your life to practice yoga…. enjoy the journey, enjoy the process… watch the transformation.

FOCUS

Moderate to Challenging.  Basic, yoga postures are introduced with attention to alignment and body mechanics. Emphasis is placed on transitioning safely between postures and breathing properly while “playing the edge.”   The psychological aspects of the practice are explored as students learn how to soothe their nervous systems during deep stretches with sustained, meditative holds.  FOCUS classes help students proceed intelligently toward more advanced postures as well as prepare them for faster-paced FLOW classes (great segway into more challenging classes).

First-Time Students welcome as well as any student that wants to gain a better understanding of the postures and the practice, including experienced students that want a softer practice.   Modifications and adjustments are offered for most injuries and health conditions. (Should be open to working with your condition/area).   Normal room temperature.

Moderate to Challenging. A healthy alternative to a heavy lunch! This abbreviated (yet satisfying!) yoga practice is packed with a variety of poses that help to restore, revitalize, and energize you during the lunch hour. Benefits: improved decision making, decrease in tension/anxiety/stress, increase productivity, and overall well-being. Clear your mind and stretch your body — return to work refreshed and energized!   Ideal for those who work in our local community as well as those who have been negatively impacted by this difficult economy.

REMIXED FOCUS (with Yoga Nidra)

Easy to Moderate. A FOCUS class that’s REMIXED with YOGA NIDRA (deep relaxation). Yoga Nidra is used as a physical and mental relaxation technique that allows the release of deep, long-held tensions in the body and mind (… even better than a long Savasana!) Take the edge off by taking your mind off-line.

First-Time Students welcome as well as any student that wants to gain a better understanding of the postures and the practice, including experienced students that want a softer practice. Mild injuries are okay as modifications are offered for most conditions. (Should be open to working with your condition/area).

FUSION FLOW  (Power Yoga)

Challenging to Vigorous.  Faster-paced with fewer alignment instructions than our FOCUS classes.  A flowing sequence of postures are linked to the breath to generate INTERNAL heat (cardio).  Students should have a basic understanding of fundamental postures and know how to transition mindfully and safely between postures.   This style or way of practicing is also known as Power Yoga, Flow, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga Yoga which is a more athletic form of hatha yoga.  Feel your power as you regulate your breath.  Do what you can do safely and let the pratice develop over time.

Classes are designed for HEALTHY, ACTIVE students that are looking for a challenging workout, who want to learn advanced postures, or the time to practice them.  Those with injuries should know how to care for their areas and modify and rest as needed.  Participants must take responsibility for themselves by respecting abilities and/or limitations.   Although the room is comfortably heated, be prepared to sweat as you stoke your internal fire!   NOT appropriate for first-time students.

BEYOND FLOW  (Fusion Flow+)

Challenging to Intense.   FUSION FLOW kicked up a notch!   Students are given instruction, guidance, and the time to practice advanced postures.  Arm balances, inversions (handstands), deep backbends, and longer holds makes this a class for the advanced practitioner.  BEYOND FLOW is intended to challenge even the most elite athlete.   In order to avoid injury, yoga experience required for this class.

WAKE-UP & FLOW!

Moderate to Challenging.   Drag yourself out of bed and greet the day with an early morning practice designed to awaken, refresh and invigorate.  Practicing yoga in the morning sets the tone for your entire day – and you’re certain to fit it into your schedule!  Start your day off on the right foot by joining us for this energizing class at sunrise.  (If needed, you’re welcome to leave early for work.)

CORE FUSION

Moderate to Challenging. Our Core Fusion yoga class consists mostly of floor/mat based work, with an emphasis on engaging, strengthening and maintaining good core awareness. A stronger core is essential not only to your yoga practice, but other sports, activities, and overall postural health.  All levels and abilities welcome.

EASY STRETCH YOGA THERAPEUTICS

Easy to Light.  An EXTRA GENTLE yoga class designed for EVERYONE, including those who are interested in trying yoga but are concerned that age, fitness level, weight, or a particular injury or illness might make being part of a class uncomfortable or seemingly impossible.  Modified postures are used to help students improve strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, and coordination.   Sessions vary according to the needs of the participants although breathing exercises and meditation are often incorporated into the practice.  The pace of the class is slow which gives students sufficient time to comfortably transition between postures, and props (including chairs) are available for use.  Especially beneficial for those who are recovering from an injury or surgery or are managing an illness although it’s perfect for anyone that wants a “lighter” practice.    Everyone is welcomeNo previous experience necessary. (A great entry point for those who’ve never practiced yoga before.)

PRENATAL VINYASA FLOW

Moderate to Challenging.  Breath awareness is emphasized during a rhythmic flow of dynamic and restorative postures while honoring the changing needs of expectant mothers.  Modifications and instruction on proper anatomical alignment help students prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for the process of childbirth.  Learn how to use the power of your breath to transform the discomforts of pregnancy and fear associated with childbirth into strength, peace of mind, and joyful surrender.  Take a “time out” to quiet your mind and connect with your body and growing baby.  Feel better, look better, and have an empowered birthing experience!

This practice is beneficial for new and experienced yoga students at every stage of pregnancy. Postnatal students are also welcome to return to class with their babies! This class is a great way to connect with other mothers-to-be in our community!   Please be sure to check with your doctor or midwife to make sure that yoga is a safe practice for you and your baby.

MOM & BABY YOGA

Easy to Moderate. Regain strength and flexibility, bond with your baby, and connect with other moms!   Mom & Baby Yoga practice is designed specifically for the needs of a new mom during the first 6-8 months after giving birth.  We strengthen the entire body with emphasis on the core, pelvic floor, and posture while integrating our babies into the practice.  This class goes beyond the physical aspect of yoga as we use each pose as an opportunity to connect more deeply with our babies through eye contact, breath, touch, and mindfulness.  Learn to quiet the mind and find serenity as you get fit and gain confidence in your mothering through this integrative yoga practice.  In each class we also take a moment to share our journeys with other new moms in the spirit of support and community.  Mom & Baby Yoga is appropriate for new and veteran moms with any level of yoga experience.  Older children are welcome to join you and your new baby.

Our studios are “comfortably heated” on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and range from 74 to 84 degrees.  Practicing in a warm (not hot) room allows you to work deeper and helps to heal and detoxify your body.   If practicing in a heated room isn’t appropriate for your health condition, then select classes held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Sundays as they have traditional room temperatures.    Know your limits, respect your body, honor your truth.
