Yoga for Bigger Bodies

If you’re just starting out on your yoga journey, we know you might feel intimidated, overwhelmed, or uncomfortable coming to a typical or traditional yoga class. As such, we’ve designed a special yoga class for plus-size women who want to improve their health and well-being.
In these classes, students are encouraged to move at their own pace while learning modified yoga postures to accommodate larger bodies. The practice also includes conscious breathing, and relaxation and meditation techniques, which can be utilized both on and off the mat.
Lisa will meet you exactly where you are. She’ll guide you through each practice with thoughtful instruction, helping you to connect with your body in a loving, non-judgmental way. All of the poses, modifications, and directions will be geared toward a plus-size body type, and we’ll use props (including chairs, if needed) to make each pose feel accessible and comfortable, while working with the body that you have today.
Specifically tailored for bigger bodies, these classes are ideal for those who feel out-of-shape, yet want to begin yoga (or to continue practicing yoga) in a setting where everyone is similar in size and shape. This class is not a sedentary class, nor does it focus on losing weight (or on how you should look). Rather, it’s designed for those who are looking to become stronger, more flexible, more active and comfortable, while enjoying the body they’re in.
While there is no weight requirement, please be aware that these classes are meant for those who are plus-size (or close to it). Participants will experience the benefits of yoga in a relaxed, supportive environment that is nurturing, safe, and welcoming to all body types.
Regardless of your size, shape, age, or ability – everyone can benefit from the practice of yoga… and we look forward to showing you how!
Investment: $80 (early bird, by June 25, $75)
Minimum of 6 participants required.
A Note on Physical Limitations: We look forward to helping you develop a personal yoga practice. Please note, our Plus-Size classes are not necessarily appropriate for individuals with major limitations such as recent knee or wrist surgeries, severe arthritis, etc. If you’re unsure of your ability to participate in this class, please feel free to call Lori for a consultation. (Contact information is below.) As with any physical activity, please have your doctor’s permission to exercise before joining.
